The Tamagotchi (たまごっち, IPA: tamaɡotꜜtɕi) is a handheld digital pet, created in Japan by Akihiro Yokoi of WiZ and Aki Maita of Bandai.It was released by Bandai on November 23, 1996 in Japan and May 1, 1997 in the rest of the world, quickly becoming one of the biggest toy fads of the 1990s and early 2000s.
The Tamagotchi Connection V2 was first released in 2005, a year after the original Tamagotchi Connection. It's the second modern release of Tamagotchi since the originals in 1996. The shop also features secret codes that can be used to unlock certain items that are otherwise unavailable. The items are free for the first use, but have to be purchased with Gotchi points if you wish to use them again. The codes can be entered by pressing the 'B' button until the shopkeepers face looks surprised, and then by pressing the corresponding button.

If all 5 codes are entered, the last item would be replaced with a 'rare costume'. This means that to get all of the items, you'd have to purchase at least one of them. It's recommended to enter the code for 'cake' last as it's the cheapest to purchase.

The V2 introduced Gotchi points which are used to purchase items from the shop. You earn Gotchi points by playing games with the Tamagotchi, and being rewarded a certain amount of points at the end, depending on how well the game was played. The maximum points you can hold is 9999.
